I started working with clay in 2003 when I signed up for an elective college course in ceramics. While I had no intention of pursuing the medium as a career, I soon found myself swallowed up by the wonderful mix of technical and creative challenges that working with ceramics involves. Since then I have narrowed my interest to high temperature atmospheric firing techniques, specifically wood firing and soda firing.
My main focus is producing functional work that will enrich the everyday experience of the person using it. Because each piece is individually hand made, each one consequently has a unique character that becomes evident to its user over time. In a way, each pot has the potential to develop a relationship with its owner through a history of use and experience.
I hope you enjoy browsing my work and that you choose to make handmade craft a part of your everyday living experience. In a society increasingly surrounded by mass produced goods, I believe it is ever more important to develop and support the artisans that make a culture meaningful.
